Gillian Bull

Gillian Bull is an experienced non-contentious commercial solicitor.

She is an expert in IP, media and information technology.

Her core strength is helping people develop businesses in IT, telecoms and data-related industries.

Her recent work includes:

Advising a video-on-demand company on content broking and distribution technology

Advising BBC Technology Limited (before its sale to Siemens) on content hosting and streaming, and supplying newly developed high-definition technology to US broadcasters

Advising a specialist software house servicing the hedge fund sector.

She has also prepared standard terms of business for many clients, often start-up companies.

Gillian has a proven track record of negotiating beneficial terms for small companies contracting with powerful, established companies.

Gillian’s background has provided her with a wealth of varied experience upon which she can draw.

She lectured in information management (strategic decisions concerning IT in business) at the London Business School in the 1980s before becoming a solicitor. She then worked for three major UK law firms (Clifford Chance, Tarlo Lyons and Masons), before setting up a niche consultancy practice to service producers and users of “volatile” data on national and international exchanges. She rounded off her experience by working as an in house lawyer for three years, advising directors and board members on legal/commercial strategy.

She is regarded by her clients as a “safe pair of hands” for contract negotiation, and as a fast and accurate legal draftswoman.

Gillian has also served as a magistrate since June 2007.
